The opening of the gate valve is disc,its direction vertical with fuild.the disc only could formailly opening or closing.not suitable for throtting and adjust.it has two seal faces,that usually is 50°wedge which is difficult because of different valvle details. Wedge gate valve could to be the overall,it is called steel gate valve,also could to be a little changes.to improve the technology,fill the the error in producting,it is called spring gate valve.

When be closen,, the seal only rely on the sealing surface to seal the medium pressure. That rely on media pressure to ram pressure to the other side of the sealing surface of the valve seat to ensure the sealing surface of the seal, which is a self-sealing. Most of the valve is sealed by force, that the valve is closed, to rely on external pressure to force the gate to the seat, to ensure the sealing surface of the seal. The gate valve with the valve stem with a straight line, and called the lift rod valve (also called clear shot valve). Usually in the lift rod with trapezoidal thread, through the valve body on top of the nut and the guide groove, the rotary motion into linear motion, that is, the operation of torque thrust into action. Some valves, located in the ram on the stem nut, stem hand wheel rotation drive rotation, to lift, this valve is called the rotating rod valve or dark valves
